Plush Halloween Pumpkin for Beginners PDF Pattern

Friends, I have a nice surprise for you today for Halloween. I want to share a nice pumpkin amigurumi pattern that you can make using plush yarn and looks like a doll. If you take a look at the designer’s Instagram profile, you can see that there are quite a few crochet toys made using this pattern. The photos you will see can give you more ideas on using colors when making the toy. Although the toy is made using plush yarn, it looks like a toy that can keep its shape because it is tightly stuffed.

Leg designs are rarely preferred in pumpkin toys and since a harmonious color is used here, the toy looks very nice. The toy with tiny eyes also has a tiny mouth.

Abbreviations
-sc = single crochet
-flo = front loop only
-inc = increase
-dec = decrease
-mr = magic ring
-ss = slip stitch
-() = # of stitches in round

Feet!
Make two!
1: 6sc in mr (6)
2: inc x6 (12)
3: sc around (12)
4: 3dec, 6sc (9)
Stuff lightly
5: 4dec, sc (5)
6-7: sc around (5)
Should end at the side of the leg, if not, add or delete sc’s so top of foot is pinched facing the right way (see photo)
Pinch shut and place 2 sc across the top (both loops on both sides)

Pumpkin!
Start with green (stem).
1: 4sc in mr (4)
2-4 (3 rounds): sc around (4) change to orange (body)
5: flo incx4 (8)
6: incx8 (16)
7: (sc, inc) x8 (24)
8: (2sc, inc) x8 (32)
9: sc around (32)
10: (35c, inc) x8 (40)
11-20 (10 rounds): sc around (40)
21: (3sc, dec) x8 (32)
22: sc around (32)
23: (2sc, dec) x8 (24)
24: (sc, dec) x3, 2sc to attach feet, dec, (sc, dec), 2sc to attach feet, (sc, dec)x2 (17)
– make sure feet are facing right way
– insert hook through two stitches on foot (pinch the foot flat), then insert through stitch on pumpkin (this counts as one sc)

This is me attaching the second foot, the heel of the foot should be facing you.

Insert eyes betweeen rows 14-15 ~4 stitches apart, in line with feet
Stuff but not too firm so indents can be easy to place
25: decx8, sc (9)
Fo and leave long tail (>12inch) for indents and sew closed, don’t cut!!!
Add smile with black acrylic yarn between rows 16-17 (in line with eyes). If you don’t know how just search it up on youtube!

Making indents
1: face project towards you
2: insert needle just below stem and bring needle back out through the center of the bottom, place this first indent just right of the right eye (see next page for picture)
3: pull tight to create indent
4: place four more indents 6 stitches apart, may vary to make them all even. The last indent should be just left of left eye
5: create a knot at the bottom of pumpkin to secure (or whatever works best for you) and hide yarn in pumpkin
You’re done!
